This hotel is excellent for staying near the convention center. It is within a short walk of the center and near the train station. We were here only for a night and were able to drop off our car and then take the train to the airport. The food near the hotel is excellent and the neighborhood is quiet.

We had the family room for 6 people. The room was better than I expected - had 6 stools and a small table, and a separate shower from the toilet; the sink was separated from them both. Although the location is a bit out of the city center, having Station Sloterdijk right there was super helpful - we could get anywhere easily. Also there was a Spar convenience store on the other side of the station for buying groceries and a bunch of eating options in the station. All in all, good value for Amsterdam lodging for a family of 6.

Hotel is easy to get to. Lobby/shared spaces are fun and well designed. Hotel is a bit further away but not too bad, metro and trams are near. On site parking is very convenient. Rooms are basic but totally fine, beds were good, black out curtains great. Coffee/tea in the room, limited toiletteries, overall I would stay here again as it was a more affortable option.

I’ve been to Amsterdam several times and really like the atmosphere of the city. I find it very walkable but there are many trams available if you’d rather use public transport. I like that the city isn’t overly crowded. I recommend taking a boat to appreciate the beautiful buildings. I really enjoyed the pizza at De Pizzabakkers. Brioche has fabulous croissants and brioche. Worth the tram ride from Centraal Station. Het Kleinste Huis has some delicious honey and loose tea to take home for yourself or as gifts. Across the street from the tea house is the best fries I had on my trip. I recommend adding grated Parmesan cheese.

Amsterdam is truly a fantastic city, and my recent visit...

Amsterdam is truly a fantastic city, and my recent visit confirmed why it's such a popular destination. From the moment you arrive, there's a unique atmosphere that makes you feel welcome and excited to explore. One of the first things you notice are the beautiful canals. They wind through the city, lined with charming old buildings and houseboats, creating a picturesque scene everywhere you look. Taking a canal cruise is a wonderful way to see the city from a different perspective and learn about its history. Walking or cycling along the canals is also a must-do experience. For those interested in art and history, Amsterdam offers world-class museums. The Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum, and Anne Frank House are all incredibly impactful and provide deep insights into art, history, and human stories. It's easy to spend hours exploring these cultural treasures. Beyond the famous sights, Amsterdam has a vibrant and relaxed feel. The streets are full of people cycling, enjoying cafes, and exploring the many unique shops. The food scene is also diverse, with options ranging from traditional Dutch treats like stroopwafels to international cuisine. There's always something delicious to discover. Overall, Amsterdam is a city that truly has something for everyone. Its blend of historical beauty, rich culture, and modern energy makes it an unforgettable place to visit. I highly recommend spending time in this charming European capital.

We found Amsterdam to be a lovely clean and safe city to walk around, just watch out for the bikes. Not as rude as the riders in Berlin but defiantly try and stay out of their way. You could easily think English was their first language and we never had any problems asking someone for directions or information. Like any big city keep your wits about you and you will be fine. The public transport system is amazing and easy to work out, again if your not sure just ask someone.

The center of Amsterdam clearly suffers from overtourism and we didn’t enjoy it too much - not due to the locals, of course, but because the center has been shaped entirely around the wishes of tourists. The center of Amsterdam didn’t impress us but the further you get from it, the quieter, calmer, and more interesting it becomes. The canals and the public transport system (metro, trams, buses and boats) are very impressive. We didn’t manage to take a boat tour through the canals, nor did we visit any museums - and certainly not any churches (which all seemed closed). In hindsight, we probably should have visited the Van Gogh Museum. I personally would love to visit the Maritime Museum, especially to learn about the history and ships of the famous Dutch East India Company (VoC). We also visited Haarlem and Zaanse Schans - the open-air museum of windmills. And we went to Zandvoort (the aan Zee stop), to Amsterdam Beach.

Walkable and smart City of canals, restaurants and shops.

Walkable and smart City of canals, restaurants and shops. Bicycles everywhere and they rule the roads and pavements. Everyone speaks excellent English. It has around 4-6 major landmarks and e.g. museums which took our fancy. You can do tours from where the cruise ships dock and go further afield e.g. to see windmills, dykes and how clogs and cheese is made. No distance seems too long.

Staff are really friendly and helpful, we even got a free room upgrade upon arrival! Free tea and coffee is available in reception which is a nice touch. Rooms are comfy, clean and warm when staying in the winter. I stay here whenever I come back to Amsterdam and wouldn't choose anywhere else.
